The Innocence of First Love

Published February 6, 2013 by Tasha

This quote is beautiful. It is beautifully painful. It has a lot of truth written in it and the first time I read it I sobbed my heart out. It had just been days after my ex had left me and it really spoke to me. This quote is true in every word written. It’s not a soppy love quote or a sad break up one. It is matter of fact, it is truthful and honest. And maybe that is why it is so painful to read … Because it holds everything that I am yet to come to terms with, everything that I have to accept.
This quote shows the finality of a break up … And how painful it really is.

“Maybe your first love is the one that sticks with you because it’s the only person who will ever receive all of you. After that, you learn better, but most of all, no matter what, a piece of you forever remains, left behind in the heart of the one you loved – a piece no future lover could ever get, no matter what. That piece holds innocence, the belief that love really can last forever. It holds friendship and pain, trial and error, that one kiss you’ll never forget, and that one night under the stars you can never get back. It holds youth and everything you thought love would be, everything that was proven wrong.”
